Difference Between Set Price and Execution Price

Help with using the user dashboard and technical support at FXRK

Updated over 4 weeks ago

We understand it can be confusing when an order is executed at a price different from the one you set in your Stop Loss or Take Profit.

However, this is not due to a system error, but rather a result of how financial markets operate under real conditions.

Why Does This Happen?

Markets are dynamic, and during periods of high volatility or low liquidity, spreads can widen significantly.

This can cause an order to be executed at a different price than the one you configured, especially if price movement shifts abruptly in a matter of seconds.

This behavior is not exclusive to FXRK or the MetaTrader platform.

It affects all traders, regardless of broker or platform, because it is an inherent condition of the market.

Who Handles Order Execution?

At FXRK, we provide access to demo accounts connected to a regulated broker, replicating real market conditions through MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5.

Order execution is handled directly by the broker and its liquidity providers, not by FXRK or the MetaTrader platform.

This means FXRK does not intervene in or alter the activation price of your orders, including Stop Loss and Take Profit.

How Can You Prepare as a Trader?

Since these movements can happen at any time, it's important to adjust your risk management and consider the following:

  • Use a Stop Loss with enough margin to avoid unexpected triggers.

  • Avoid trading with large lot sizes during periods of high volatility.

  • Be mindful of low-liquidity hours (such as weekends, nighttime, or major economic events).

  • Monitor how spreads behave on the instruments you trade.

Incorporating these factors into your strategy will help you trade more reliably and reduce the impact of volatility on your operations.

If you have specific questions about an executed order, feel free to contact our support team to review the case.
